Artificial Intelligence isn’t coming – it’s already here. It’s in our inboxes, our analytics dashboards, our finance tools, and even our email drafts. Yet while headlines scream about job losses and robots, the real story is much simpler and more human.
The AI reality check
According to the latest Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Workplace report, 81% of respondents say their organisation is actively looking for ways to apply generative AI. Even more tellingly, AI tool adoption as a strategic priority has jumped from 12% to 39% in just one year. In other words, AI is no longer a side project; it’s becoming central to digital workplace strategy.
From automation to amplification
AI isn’t about replacing humans; it’s about amplifying them. The report shows that the greatest expected impacts of AI are automating simple, repeatable processes (27%) and helping employees find content, people, and apps (19%). Think of it as removing friction: AI can draft emails, summarise meetings, or surface the right document instantly, freeing people to concentrate on creative thinking and decision-making.
The confidence gap
Despite the hype, most organisations are still in the early stages of adoption. That means the competitive advantage now belongs to professionals who are confident using AI – not just the tech teams. Understanding how tools like ChatGPT work, and knowing how to use them responsibly, is now a business survival skill.
